Last updated October 25, 2026. These terms explain how the Gear Obsession cash back program works.

Membership

Membership is free. You need a valid email address and may have one account. We may refuse or close accounts used for fraud, self-referral schemes or abuse of the program, and cash back earned that way is forfeited.

Earning cash back

You earn cash back when you click through Gear Obsession to a participating store and complete a qualifying purchase, and the store reports and pays the commission to us. Stores decide what qualifies (gift cards, taxes, shipping and some products often don't). The rate shown when you click is the rate recorded for that trip.

Pending, locked and reversed

New cash back is pending until the store confirms the order and its return period passes, usually about 45 days. Then it locks and becomes available. If an order is returned, cancelled or rejected by the store, its cash back is removed; if it was already paid to you, the amount is deducted from future cash back.

Payouts

We pay available cash back monthly once it reaches $5, by PayPal or Venmo; checks are available for $100 or more. Keep your payout details current. If a payment can't be delivered or isn't claimed, it returns to your balance.

Inactive accounts

Active account. Your account is active if, within the past 12 months, you have clicked through Gear Obsession to a participating store or earned cash back.

Maintenance fee. If your account has been inactive for more than 12 consecutive months, Gear Obsession may deduct a maintenance fee of $5.00 per month from your available cash back balance to cover the cost of maintaining your account. The fee stops when your account becomes active again or your available balance reaches zero. It never reduces your balance below zero, and you will never owe Gear Obsession money because of it. Maintenance fees are not refundable. We apply this fee except where prohibited by applicable law.

Notice. We will email you at the address on your account at least 30 days before the first maintenance fee is charged.

Account closure. If your account has been inactive for more than 36 consecutive months and has no available or pending cash back, we may close it permanently.

Avoiding fees. Keep your payout details (PayPal, Venmo or mailing address) up to date. Available cash back of $5 or more is paid out in our regular monthly payout, so it isn't left sitting in an inactive account.

Effective date. This section takes effect on October 25, 2026. Inactivity is counted from that date at the earliest.

Changes

We may change these terms and store rates. We'll email members about material changes before they take effect.
