Privacy policy
Last updated October 25, 2026
Gear Obsession respects your privacy. Except as described in this policy, we never release a member's personal information without their permission.
Information we collect
To run your account we collect your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and the details needed to pay you: a PayPal email, a Venmo phone number, email or handle, or a mailing address for checks.
When you click through to a store we record the click (store, time and the cash back rate) so the store's commission can be matched to your account. We log IP addresses to protect accounts from abuse and to run the site.
Who sees your information
We don't sell your personal information. Inside Gear Obsession, access is limited to the people who need it to help you. We share only what's needed with services that help run the program, such as PayPal/Venmo to pay you, our email provider, and our hosting provider. Stores and affiliate networks see a click number, not your name or email.
Security
The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS) everywhere. Passwords are never stored in readable form.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to keep you logged in, protect forms from misuse and remember a referral or partner link you arrived from. We also use our own analytics cookies to count visitors and see which sites, searches and emails bring people to Gear Obsession; they hold a random ID, not your name or email, and aren't shared with anyone. We don't use advertising cookies. Stores and affiliate networks may set their own cookies when you click through to them, under their own privacy policies.
Your choices and rights
You can update your name, email and payout details in your account at any time. You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account by emailing us. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under state privacy laws; we honor those requests as the law requires.
How long we keep information
We keep account and cash back records while your account is open and as long as needed afterwards for payouts, tax and accounting, fraud prevention and legal obligations. When records are no longer needed we delete or anonymize them.
Children
Gear Obsession is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13, and members must be old enough to make purchases and receive payments in their state.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we'll update the date above and email members before the changes take effect.
